The experience of South Asians who identify as LGBTQ living in North West regions of England
0 %
This questionnaire is part of a psychology project being conducted at the University of Central Lancashire, led by Dr. Roxanne Khan. The research team wish to better understand what it is like to be South Asian and identify as LGBTQ, when living in the North West.

If you are of South Asian origin, identify as LGBTQ and live in the North West, we would be extremely grateful if you can spare 10 minutes of your time to complete this questionnaire.

You will be asked to answer 30 questions across three sections.
• Section 1 asks general questions to get a broad idea of who took part in our study.
• Section 2 asks about psychological well-being to give us an insight into health and welfare issues related to identifying as LGBTQ, from a South Asian perspective. Please note that this section asks sensitive questions about family honour, verbal or physical abuse and forced marriage.
• Section 3 asks your opinion of available support services for people who identify as LGBTQ from South Asian communities living in North West regions, and how they might be improved.

The topic of this study may be a sensitive issue for some people, so please do not participate in this study if you think it may cause any stress. Even if you have opened this questionnaire, you are not obligated to complete or submit it. We can reassure you that if you decide to take part, the questionnaire you submit is completely anonymous. You can withdraw from the study at any time by closing the browser, right until you click ‘done’ on the last page. After this point, because the questionnaires are completely anonymous, we cannot withdraw your responses, simply because we cannot identify individual questionnaires.

Our sole interest in conducting this study is to ask about your honest opinions and experiences; as professionals, we would consider it highly unethical to make judgments based on any responses received. If you feel some of the questions are not appropriate for you to answer, please feel free to leave these blank. Also note that only researchers directly involved with this project will have access to the submitted questionnaires, and the anonymous information provided will be used solely for research purposes.

Our contact details are on the final page of this questionnaire. If you would like to know more about this research project, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you wish to discuss the issues raised within this questionnaire, we have also included information of relevant organisations that are able to deal with such issues. We advise that you print the final page of this questionnaire to keep for future reference.

Once completed, on the last page please click ‘done’ to return the questionnaire to us.

We thank you in advance for taking part in this study.
